Athletes, on savouring their successes, often reflect on the mental and physical hurdles they’ve had to overcome to realise their potential. As we observe the UN’s International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, it is an opportunity for all of us to strive towards achieving the themes of development and peace.
Given the current challenges being valiantly combatted across the globe, this approach is even more essential. It is in adversity, that we learn the most about ourselves: the depth of our character and the threshold of our capabilities.
In life, as in sport, we all have hurdles. As we currently encounter the same challenge, we are on one team in mutual pursuit of the same goal. Now, more than ever, we must look beyond the obstacles, remain focused and keep striding towards our goal.
We will win!
