Zenith Athletic Club’s Mark London raced to first place to capture the men’s title in the THA/NAAATT Tobago Cross Country series for the second consecutive year. Runners from several clubs across the nation competed on Sunday November 17, at the Mt. Irvine Golf Course.

London completed a 6km course (3 laps) clocking a time of 21 minutes, 23 seconds. His closest competition, Jediael Waters of UTT, crossed the finish line in a time of 22 minutes, 45 seconds while James Raphael of Tobago Select came in third with an effort of 25 minutes, 23 seconds. London, a five-time CARIFTA champion, will set his sights on the 2019 NAAATT Cross Country Championships next.

Ben Israel Bannister dominated the Male and Female U-11/U-13/U-15 category (4km) with a time of 7.05. This promising young track and field athlete was nominated for the Primary School Athlete of the Year category in the 2017 Tobago Sport Awards and he continues to be one to watch. Meanwhile, Jamali Crichlow rocketed to the finish with a time of 14.01, earning the top spot in the U17/U20 Male and Female event.

The Division of Sport and Youth Affairs was pleased to partner with the Tobago Athletic Committe to support this NAAATT sanctioned event. The series falls in line with the Division’s thrust to build networks, facilitate holistic development and advocate for participation in sport.
