Elite Eagles took the top spot in the knock-out competition that officially opened the inaugural Net-Ash Foundation Mixed Netball League on Saturday January 11 at the Shaw Park Hard Court. They bested rivals Dream Team 5 to 4. The league is proudly supported by the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs as an extension of the Division’s mandate to encourage total participation in sport.
The tournament features teams comprising of both male and female players competing for a $5000 prize. Dream Team, T&T Fire Services, Spartans, T&T Police Services, Elite Eagles, Z Tekk Ballers and the Mt St George Police Youth Club are some of the teams that will go head to head for the title.
The foundation is headed by its founder and Managing Director, Ashelle Legall. Legall, a Sport Officer I and former National Senior Player was inspired to create the tournament after observing the tremendous response to regular friendly matches she initiated at the same venue. Legall aims to aid in the development of the sport of Netball on the island and contribute to the growth of athletes. The league will run for the next three weeks leading up to the finals on Sunday February 2 and also include a big four competition.
