Tobago Archers Excel at National Indoor Championships

On February 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th, Archers from the Tobago Precision Archery Club joined their peers in Trinidad for the National Indoor Archery Championships 2020, topping multiple events and breaking records in the process. The event was hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Target Archery Federation at the Central Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Saith Park, Chaguanas. The Archers were accompanied by Coach Patricia Goddard and National Archery Judge, Coach Patrick Welch. Tobago’s youth athletes included: Anthurium Lewis (Recurve Benjamin Female), Antoinette Lewis (Compound Cadet Female), Che Stewart (Recurve Cub Male), Dezerea Suarez (Recurve Cub Female), Sumayah Bobb (Recurve Cub Female) and Tyreese Scotland (Recurve Cadet Male). Among the adults were: Bronson Chapman (Compound Senior Male), Orjee Archie (Compound Senior Male) and Rachel Winter-Roach (Recurve Master Female).

Anthurium Lewis copped 1st place in the Recurve Benjamin Female Ranking Shoot and won the 2nd place trophy for the Recurve Benjamin Female Elimination Shoot. Meanwhile, Antoinette Lewis placed 2nd in the Compound Cadet Female Ranking and Elimination Shoots. Rachel Winter-Roach went on to place 1st in the Recurve Master Female Ranking and Elimination Shoots.

Further, the team of Brieanna Ali, Shanta Roopchand and Antoinette Lewis set a new record with 1473 points in the Compound Junior Women category. In the Compound Cadet Women’s category, Shanta Roopchand, Antoinette Lewis and Kesia Joseph amassed 1333 points to topple the previous record of 1075 points. During the Team Eliminations (MICA),  the Compound Junior Women’s team of Brieanna Ali, Shanta Roopchand and Antoinette Lewis also secured a new record of 205 points.  More information on the 2020 National Indoor events can be found via the links below:
