Tobagonian track and field athlete Tyriq Horsford has again been recognised for his top athletic performance. Horsford was awarded the title of Junior Sportsman of the Year 2019 during the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC)’s 25th Annual Awards Ceremony. The event was held at at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port of Spain on Sunday December 29, 2019. Tyriq had a stellar international athletic season after copping a fifth consecutive gold medal at the 2019 CARIFTA Games thanks to a convincing victory in the men’s Under 20 javelin event. He went on to earn bronze at the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in June. Tyriq also captured bronze in the men’s javelin event at the Pan American Junior Championships in San José, Costa Rica in July. Horsford is currently pursuing studies and competing collegiately at Mississippi State University in the United States of America. The Division of Sport and Youth Affairs extends hearty congratulations to Tyriq on his achievements. He continue to makes Tobago, and by extension the nation, proud!
