Children between the ages of 7 to 15 years will again have the chance spend part of their mid-year vacation developing through sport. The annual THA Sport Camp is carded to kick off from July 8-19th, 2019, at 10 locations across the island.
Sport Camp 2019 will be themed “Game On” and grounded on equipping each participant fundamental skills in the different sporting disciplines offered at each camp site. Hosted by the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Camp will be held Monday to Friday from 8:30-12:30am. Department of Sport qualified coaches and technical personnel will be facilitating exciting presentations and competition.
The goal is to encourage each child to be the best they can be on and off the field, while keeping them engaged. While the camp is free, lunch will not be provided and children must walk with their water. A total of 11 disciplines will be hosted. These include: Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Beach Football, Archery, Tennis, Netball, Basketball, Golf, Swimming and Athletics.
Senior Programme Coordinator, in the Department of Sport, Pietra Gay said, “The Sport Camp will give youngsters the opportunity to participate in organised play that will help them develop fundamental motor skills and grasp the basic concepts of different sports.”
