A winning combination of employability skills and practical work experience is again being placed within reach of young people in Tobago. The Department of Youth Affairs is pleased to announce that registration for the annual World of Work (W.O.W.) Programme is now open to persons from 16 to 18 years old. This multifaceted undertaking provides a solid foundation for young job seekers in today’s market.
The programme includes four days of training, one day of interviews and 15 days of hands-on work experience. Training will be conducted by certified facilitators in a wide range of areas. These sessions are scheduled to commence on July 10 at the conference room of the Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour, Montessori Drive, Glen Road. Some of the topics that will be covered include: resume and cover letter writing, job interview techniques, career planning, communication skills, conflict resolution, workplace etiquette and leadership. The youth will be exposed to environments in both the public and private sectors where they will work alongside a variety of professionals.
This initiative serves to create an enabling environment to facilitate youth participation in economic development. It also falls in line with key elements of the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs’ strategic pillars, such as capacity building, opportunity creation and the expansion of access.
Registration forms can be collected at and returned to the Division on weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Registration assistance is also available between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. For further information please contact the Department of Youth at 612-3792 ext. 1034, 1036 or 1007.
