Tobago’s athletes will develop their skills, and learn how to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic through the Department of Sport’s upcoming programme, titled: “Going Beyond the Field”.

The programme starts with a holistic development webinar series that runs every Wednesday from September 8th-29th, and is also open to athletes, coaches and sporting enthusiasts. Participants will benefit from information in areas such as sport psychology, nutrition and physiotherapy.

Technical Director of Sport, Lyndell Hoyte-Sanchez said the programme will provide a timely boost to the sporting fraternity.

“We want our stakeholders to gain focus, motivation and sporting knowledge from this webinar series,” Hoyte-Sanchez said. “The Going Beyond the Field Programme is just that. It’s a series of initiatives that will focus on the off-the-field elements of sport development—from mental strength to branding and everything in between.”

The Director of Sport said given the impact of the pandemic, these skills are even more critical to the holistic development of athletes, regardless of the level of sport they play.

To sign up for the webinar series, log on to https://forms.gle/yLWB8DksN3qbYB9m9 by September 5th at 4 p.m. For more information, call Sherridan Kirk at 483-7456 or Pietra Gay at 760-5323, or contact the Department of Sport at dsya_sport@gov.tt.
