The Division of Sport and Youth Affairs continues to place significant emphasis on collaboration and inclusion as facets of youth development.
As such, DSYA was pleased to support the Mt. Zion Teaching and Deliverance Ministry during its first-ever “Listening conference” entitled “Vital signs- Checking the pulse of the next generation” at Fairfield Complex, Bacolet, from November 24th-30th. The initiative provided an opportunity to unlock the potential of the island’s young people by allowing them to be heard.
The programme gave youth and youth organisations the opportunity to build leadership and life skills from a spiritual perspective. The week-long schedule of activities included sessions where participants had the chance to share their issues in a solution-driven environment and receive support and mentorship.
Coordinator of the activities, Evangelist Kathleen Duncan-Berkley noted, “The idea for the youth conference came to me in a dream a year ago. In this dream, God told me to do something to help transform the lives of the youth. He gave me the name as well. Sometime later, I connected with the Prophetess Yolanda Henry of Mt. Zion Teaching and Deliverance Ministry who was seeking to stage something similar. We were also readily assisted by the Division in several areas including reaching many of the youth across Tobago. I’m happy to say the conference was a success. This is a new beginning.”
