Young persons, youth groups and organisations that have successfully registered with the Department of Youth Affairs (DYA) gain access to an array of specialised services based on their specific needs. Through their official affiliation with DYA, Stakeholders stand to benefit from recognition, training in a number of areas, technical support, networking opportunities, administrative resources, and access to government services.

Basic requirements for Certification of Youth Group /Organization
For Youth Groups:
a. Must be functional for at least 3 months
b. Must have a minimum of 15 members
c. 60% of membership must be between the ages of 12-29 years
d. Must have a written constitution
e. Must have a basic organisational Structure as evidenced by an elected executive body.
f. Must be able to keep basic records as evidenced by a copy of minutes and financial records (where applicable).
For Youth Serving Groups
a. Must be functional for at least 3 months
b. Must have a minimum of 15 members
c. 20% of membership must be between the ages of 12-29 years
d. Must have a written constitution
e. Must have a basic organisational Structure as evidences by an elected executive body.
f. Must be able to keep basic records as evidenced by a copy of minutes and financial records (where applicable).
g. Must uphold the principles of positive youth development
- Provided that Youth Groups/Organisations have satisfied the certification requirements and successfully completed a capacity assessment, a Certificate of Registration is processed. Once registered, the Groups now have access to the full range of services offered by the Department and will be continually monitored by our district serving officers.
